Delayed recording of video

Using the video doorbell ultra and wi-fi homebase product, recordings start too late. A delivery driver dropping off a package doesn’t get captured walking to the door. Recordings start when his back is turned heading back to the truck. I’ve set sensitivity to max but no change. I have setup a pretty deep zone - out to the street. What can I do to start recording (detection) sooner?

Good day,

1. Check Detection Zones Carefully

  • Even though you’ve set a deep detection zone, please make sure it fully covers the sidewalk or driveway area where the delivery driver approaches.
  • Adjust the detection zone boundaries to include the full path leading to your door, especially the side areas if applicable.

2. Adjust Motion Sensitivity & Person Detection

  • Set motion sensitivity to maximum (which you have), but also check that Person Detection is turned ON to help the doorbell prioritize people moving.

4. Positioning & Angle

  • The angle and height of the doorbell affect how soon it detects motion.
  • Mounting the doorbell slightly lower or angled toward the walkway can help catch movement earlier.

5. Consider Adding Additional Cameras

  • For longer driveways or wider front yards, consider adding an extra AOSU camera positioned to cover the approach path more fully.

6. Firmware and App Updates

  • Ensure your doorbell and HomeBase have the latest firmware updates installed. Updates sometimes improve motion detection algorithms.
Doorbells are designed primarily to detect and record activity near the door itself. While they can be adjusted to cover a wider area, extremely early detection (e.g., 30+ feet away) may require dedicated cameras with wider fields of view.

All the best,
