- Adjust the detection distance to a suitable range, but also to avoid covering the streets and other scenes, bringing power consumption impact.
- Improve the detection sensitivity. Please make sure there are no barriers in front of device.
- Wifi signal>85%
The detection range is set all the way to the right (far). The device is hooked up to 24vac source so I wouldn’t expect a power consumption impact.
The are no obstructions. I moved my HomeCortex closer to the router which improved my wifi signal from 80% to 98%. Still, each video starts at 5 seconds into the recording. It’s those 5 seconds that are lost. Any other suggestions?
Thanks for the detailed info. Here are some targeted suggestions:
1. Check Motion Sensitivity and Type
- Motion Sensitivity: Even if your detection range is “far,” a lower sensitivity might cause delayed triggering.
- Detection Mode: Some aosu cameras use AI human detection (which reduces false alerts but may trigger later). Try switching to:
- “All motion” or
- Lower AI filtering threshold (if adjustable)
- Set the detection area and set the precise detection area range, which can improve the detection brightness.
2. Firmware Update
Make sure both your camera and HomeCortex firmware are fully updated:
- Go to Device Settings → General → Firmware Version.
- Tap Check for Updates — aosu may have pushed improvements to detection lag or recording.
3. Test Alternative Trigger Angles
Sometimes, motion detection is more responsive when movement crosses the camera’s field of view rather than comes straight toward it.
- Try walking side-to-side in the detection zone.
- Angle the camera slightly to the side to improve lateral movement detection.
