I have an AOSU P1 SE camera system. I am disappointed with the small amount of recording time that the cameras do when an occurrence is registered. As an example, we had a couple of raccoons visit our house last night. The camera picked them up, but the recording was only 7 seconds long. We saw them just about to climb our wooden post – and I was interested to see if they actually get on our roof (and potentially cause issues) – but the recording stopped just as he started. The coon was well in the area of the camera range, and he was moving, so there was no reason for the camera to stop recording. While this happened to be a raccoon, had this been an intruder, this could have been much more serious.
So, all that said, is there a way to adjust the camera / settings so that, once a motion is detected, it will record for a longer period of time?
Thanks,
Kevin
To clarify: the AOSU P1 SE system does not currently offer a manual setting to extend recording time after motion is detected. The recording duration is dynamically managed based on the motion it detects. In most cases, the camera will continue to record as long as motion continues—but certain conditions can sometimes cause a premature cutoff, such as:
- Motion being interpreted as completed too early due to low movement speed or direction.
- Sensitivity settings being too low or “Human Detection Only” being enabled.
- Power-saving optimizations if the camera is on battery/solar mode and trying to conserve power.
Some things you can do though are
- Increase Motion Sensitivity:
- Open the AOSU app.
- Navigate to the P1 SE camera settings > Detection Settings.
- Set Motion Sensitivity to High.
- Disable Human Detection Only (if enabled):
- This ensures that the camera will trigger for all motion, not just people.
- Adjust Activity Zones:
- Make sure the detection zone covers the area where activity tends to happen (like your wooden post or roof edge).
Also please note that animal specific detection is part of the subscription offered by AOSU
All the best,
