I have a dongle but doesn’t seem to recognise and therefore can’t sync with cameras. I’m using the system on a building site with dongle only. Not bothered at present about being notified of events. Would just be looking at using the hard drive to look back throuogh if an event happened.
To initially set up and sync cameras, can i take them home and sync them via my home internet and then once synced take to site to put into position and for it to work recording to hard drive?
Hi, thanks for your message! We understand your situation. ![]()
Unfortunately, aosu cameras require an internet connection for the initial setup and operation. The system cannot be used fully offline — even for local recording to the hard drive, the HomeCortex still needs to be connected to the internet in order to stay paired and functional with the cameras.
So while you can take the cameras home and sync them via your home internet, they won’t continue working properly on site if there’s no network connection at all.
We recommend using mobile Wi-Fi on the construction site . As long as the system stays connected to the internet, it can function normally and record footage.
In theory they should be able to still show video feet also if they have no internet connection but are still connected via my local wifi. Will this work or are the cameras forced to connect to aosu servers? That’s kinda frustrating since it’s a security breach if you stream everything all day long into the internet instead of just being able to use them locally. I get why could functions are beneficial but why force them on people?
