I purchased a model V8S13 doorbell that can function on battery power as well as doorbell transformer power. I connected my model 122 16vac transformer to the doorbell without any issue. But from reading on Amazon reviews some people are claiming you need to wire a resistor in series from the transformer to protect the doorbell from getting damaged from voltage IF YOU DON’T HAVE AN EXISTING CHIME, which I don’t. One review claimed Aosu tech support confirmed this but when I called support they said a resistor wasn’t needed. So I am in a quandry. Who to believe? I suppose I could still wire a resistor in without causing an issue but why bother if it isn’t needed. Thoughts?
