Great setup tips for D1 Max

Anybody have a D1 MAX , i have just purchased & installed one to go with 2 others ( d1 se, d1 light ) was looking for any tips on setup , i am mainly covering an entrance lane to my property, so only vehicles & human detection required, there are a lot of extra detection settings compared to the other 2 cameras, just wondering if anyone has set one up and how do they find it compared to other aosu ptz cameras

Hey I recently set up a D1 MAX too, alongside my Solar (classic), and I can definitely say it’s a noticeable upgrade in terms of detection settings and overall performance.

Here are a few setup tips that worked well for me:

  1. Detection Zones: Take advantage of the customizable detection zones. Since you’re only covering an entrance lane, it helps to narrow down the active area to avoid false alerts from nearby trees, animals, or passing cars outside your property line.
  2. Smart Detection: In the D1 MAX settings, make sure to enable only vehicle and human detection. This cuts down unnecessary notifications. The AI on this model is a lot sharper than the SE and Light it’s more accurate but can still need fine-tuning.
  3. Sensitivity Settings: Start with medium sensitivity, then adjust based on how busy your entrance lane is. I had to dial mine down a bit because it was picking up cars slowing down near the entrance, even if they didn’t enter.
  4. Night Vision Modes: If you’re using color night vision, adjust the IR intensity or switch to black & white depending on your lighting setup. The MAX does pretty well in low light, but tweaking this helped me reduce glare from headlights.
  5. Notifications & Recordings: I suggest setting schedules for alerts to avoid constant pings during high-traffic hours (unless that’s when you’re most concerned).

Overall, compared to the SE and Light, the D1 MAX is a step up in clarity and AI reliability, especially if you’re focusing on security-related use like entrance monitoring. The setup might feel a bit more involved due to the extra features, but it pays off in accuracy.

Would love to hear how yours performs after a few days of use!
