Hi thanks. Can’t understand why this has happened. It was a private email to the Captain. The email I received said that I can reply to the message and I did so. A bit baffled. Thanks again
Aosu sells multiple types of security cameras and cloud storage isn’t required. The traditional ones use Micro SD cards that store the footage locally, which you can then access remotely through the app. It’s best to buy a Micro SD card meant for High Endurance applications to ensure it can withstand the demands of constant reading/writing data.
Alternatively, Aosu also sells cameras that connect to a home base unit. The data is saved to them rather than a Micro SD card, but they otherwise operate similarly.
I’ve been using my camera with branded memory cards, but suddenly my front door camera is listing that there is no memory card fitted so I can’t check my events, is this a common fault? Thanks
What kind of memory card did you buy and where did you get it from? It’s best to use ones marketed specifically as “High Endurance” because security cameras are regularly writing over data. Cards designed for other uses may fail quickly.
I’d also make sure you bought a genuine one. Unfortunately, there are lots of bootleg storage devices on online retailers. It may have the name of a reputable brand (SanDisk, Samsung, Sony, etc.) but isn’t actually one of their products. These bootleg products almost always offer worse performance than the genuine ones, lying about storage size and speeds. There’s a very simple free program called H2TestW that can help verify if your card is legitimate.
I bought two 128gb cards from Amazon, with a class 10 speed rating, I’ve got one in the front door camera (the one which is faulty) and the other in the back garden camera which is working fine, I’m going to reinstall the SD card and reset the camera, just waiting for decent weather to get at it.
Items sold directly by Amazon or the manufacturer are usually legitimate, but so much stuff is from third party vendors that you have to be careful with what you’re buying on that site.
Class 10 speed is fine, but that doesn’t mean the card is meant for heavy use. If you haven’t owned it long, it probably hasn’t failed because of that, though. Especially if you bought 2 cards at the same time, they’re being used the same amount and one’s fine. Definitely try to format the card and see if it works. If you’re still having problems, your card’s probably failed.
Thanks for the advice, turns out it was a dodgy SD card, got a temporary card in, with two new scan disc replacements on the way as I expect the rear camera to go the same way. Very grateful for your help.
