I have just bought the Aosu V8S doorbell camera. The problem I am having is when someone rings I tap on the alert on my phone which brings me to where I can view the person outside and on either side I have a Red or Green Phone icon I push the Green one nothing will happen and in a few secs that screen is gone and back to the Home Screen if I were to push the Red Phone icon it works and hangs up. I have rebooted wifi deleted app reinstalled changed wifi from 2.4 to 5G tried on different phones even. The only work around is the person rings the doorbell the app opens to the screen where I see them then I press Red phone icon which brings me back to the Home Screen I push the play button wait for it to connect then push the microphone icon that says talk and now I can communicate both ways. It this the norm or I missing something.
Thanks in advance
Thanks for your detailed explanation , when you tap the green phone icon, the app should immediately initiate two-way audio so you can talk to the person at your door without needing multiple steps.
What You’ve Already Done (Great!):
You’ve done all the right troubleshooting steps:
- Reinstalled the app
- Rebooted Wi-Fi
- Switched between 2.4GHz and 5GHz
- Tried on multiple phones
That helps confirm this is likely a firmware or app-level bug, not user error or bad Wi-Fi.
Suggested Fixes:
1. Check App Permissions (again)
Even if you already granted them, re-check:
- Go to phone Settings → Aosu app → Make sure Microphone, Notifications, and Background activity are all enabled.
- On Android: also allow “Display over other apps” if available.
2. Firmware Update Check
- Open the Aosu app → Tap the doorbell → Settings → Check for firmware updates.
3. Test in Different Notification Mode
Try opening the doorbell live view directly from the app instead of the push alert, then press the green phone. This can help isolate whether it’s a notification-related bug.
4. Clear App Cache (if on Android)
Settings → Apps → Aosu → Storage → Clear cache.
5. Contact Aosu Support (recommended)
If the above don’t fix it, this may be a known issue with the green-call-action in your app version. Aosu’s support team may offer a patch or beta app update. You can contact them directly via:
- In-app support chat
- Or Email: support@aosulife.com
