Homebase for P1 4K Solar cameras (4 pack)

My Homebase for my AOSU 4K solar 4 pack camera system with homebase… the fan runs every 1 minute for about 15 seconds.. the homebase is not hot, its in an open space.. the room is ventilated…so I dont know if this is nomal

I am worried it will burn out soon

Some more observations.. the homebase fan appears to be chipping in every 2 minutes and runs for 10-15 secs.. that cant be right ? Won’t it eventually burn out ?

If your AOSU 4K Solar Camera HomeBase fan is kicking in every 1–2 minutes for around 10–15 seconds, even when the unit isn’t hot, that does seem a bit frequent, but it’s not necessarily a sign that something’s wrong.

Here’s what’s likely going on:

  1. Proactive Cooling Design:
The HomeBase probably uses a temperature-sensitive fan controller that turns the fan on in short bursts to prevent internal components from ever getting too warm. Some smart devices prefer to keep components at a consistent low temp rather than waiting for them to get hot, even if the outer case feels cool.

  2. Internal Activity You Can’t See:
Even if you’re not actively watching footage, the HomeBase could still be:

Processing motion events

Communicating with connected cameras

Uploading/archiving clips

Running AI detection features These all generate heat at the chip level. (Which was introduced even more heavily in the new updates)

These tiny fans (brushless) are designed to handle frequent starts/stops. It won’t burn out under normal conditions they’re made for thousands of cycles.

However When It Might Be a Problem:

If the fan gets louder over time, starts buzzing, or makes clicking/grinding noises that’s a sign of wear or dust.

If the HomeBase gets hot to the touch, that’s more concerning.

If the fan ran silently for months and suddenly started this behavior after a firmware update, it could be a software-level fan control issue.

What You Can Do For Now :

Check firmware version and recent updates in the AOSU app.

Unplug the cameras for an hour and see if the fan behavior changes, this helps rule out whether the base is working hard due to motion detection or video syncing.

Contact AOSU support with a description of the issue, your firmware version, and model number. They may confirm if this fan cycle is expected.

So no, your unit probably isn’t on the verge of burning out. But it’s worth checking with the manufacturer just in case it’s an unintended behavior after an update or something specific to your environment.

All the best,

Thank you for your comprehensive response.. respect

Regards,

Good Day, my firmware is also up to date. I did turn on a ceiling fan in the room and the homebase fan did not chip in as frequent as before.. I also live in a tropical climate so the humidity is probably a factor as well..
