HOW TO CONNECT THE HOMEBASE TO THE STARLINK ROUTER?

How to Connect Starlink to a Camera

  1. Install the Starlink Terminal Device:
    • Ensure that you have installed the satellite terminal device (commonly known as ““Dishy””) according to the Starlink installation guide.
    • Connect the power and ensure the device is working correctly.

  2. Connect the Router:
    • The Starlink terminal device usually comes with a Wi-Fi router (Starlink Gateway Router). Connect the router to the Ethernet port of the terminal device.
    • Ensure the router is powered on and functioning properly.

  3. Connect the Camera:
    • Wired Connection:
    • Use an Ethernet cable to connect the camera to one of the LAN ports on the Starlink router.
    • Ensure the camera’s network settings are configured correctly, typically set to DHCP mode to automatically obtain an IP address.
    • Wireless Connection:
    • Ensure the camera supports Wi-Fi connectivity.
    • Connect to the Wi-Fi network of the Starlink router. The default Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password are usually found on a label at the bottom of the router.
    • Enter the router’s SSID and password in the camera’s Wi-Fi settings.

  4. Configure the Camera:
    • Log in to the camera’s management interface (usually accessible through a browser by entering the camera’s IP address).
    • Configure the camera’s network settings to ensure it can access the internet via the Starlink router.
    • Set up the required monitoring and recording parameters.

  5. Test the Connection:
    • In the camera’s management interface, check the network connection status to ensure the camera is successfully connected to the internet.
    • Perform a video stream test to ensure the video quality and stability meet your requirements.
    Additional Notes
    • Signal Strength: Ensure the Starlink terminal device is installed in a location that can receive a stable satellite signal.
    • Bandwidth: Be aware that Starlink’s bandwidth can vary by region and time. Ensure your network bandwidth is sufficient to support the camera’s video stream.
    • Security: Ensure the camera’s network settings and access permissions are secure to prevent unauthorized access.
