The obvious answer is to use a wired camera. Many of those record constantly (versus the battery cameras which only record when they detect movement) so they offer an even greater degree of protection. Alternatively, solar-powered battery cameras are available. Those use the sun to recharge the battery for you. Aosu offers all kinds.

Yes, you can charge a camera without taking it off the wall. You can connect a USB cable to an external power source, like a power bank or solar panel, or use an AC adapter if the camera is designed for it. For some older cameras, charging may require turning the camera off first.

Methods to charge a wall-mounted camera

  • USB cable to a power source:

  • Connect USB port to a wall outlet, a power bank, or a computer to charge it without removing the battery.

  • Solar panel:

If your camera has a solar panel option, you can mount it beside or near the camera to keep the battery charged continuously.

  • AC adapter:

Some cameras can be directly plugged into an AC outlet using an adapter, while others may not come with one.

  • External battery pack:

You can use an external battery pack as a power source for charging, but you may need to turn the camera off before connecting it.

Important considerations

  • Camera compatibility:

Ensure that the charging method you choose is compatible with your specific camera model.

  • Safety:

Be careful when using external power sources and avoid overcharging the battery, as this can damage it.

  • Turn off the camera:

For some cameras, you must turn the camera off to charge the battery via a USB cable.

Aosu provides Wired Cameras that operate on continuous power source. Alternative options are solar panels that continuously recharged a battery. Both are great options from AOSU

Short answer: usually — yes. Depending on the camera model and how it’s installed, you can often charge or power it without fully removing it from the wall. Common ways to charge/power a wall‑mounted security camera without taking it down include

1-using the camera’s external charging port (if it has one). Open the weather flap and plug in a compatible USB cable, and connect the other end of the cable to a power source such as a charger, power bank etc. Remember to reseal cove/weather flap after done.

2- Using Solar panel accessory. Mount the solar panel nearby and connect it to the camera with the supplied cable. If camera is a solar powered one, make sure it is in a position that receives lots of direct sunshine.

3- A good option is to buy a wired camera that operates on continuous power source and AOSU has plenty of them.

Yes! Most aosu cameras can be charged without removing them from the wall. You can use a standard USB-C cable, and depending on your setup, even a plug adapter or a power bank works fine for charging. Super handy if you don’t want to mess with the mount! :electric_plug::battery::camera:
