Solar battery charging issue

I do have the solar outdoor cameras and the for some reason it is not charging up completely although in the summer months is much better than winter even though I do have some all around my house with no trees. Officially it says it only needs 2 hours a day of charging from the Sun but that seems not accurate and this is very frustrating as I thought this would be a game changer.

any ideas what can be done? will be very much appreciated

This is such a common problem that Aosu has their own guide for it:

If possible, try to bring a battery bank to those cameras and have them charge off of those.

I live in Canada and have two solar cameras. One of them has the panel mounted very high with zero obstructions. It’s charging completely even now in late December.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the other camera. It’s always been slightly obstructed, but overcast conditions, limited daylight and overhanging shadows from nearby buildings means it’s been struggling to charge via solar since late November. Thankfully, this one’s very easy for me to take down and recharge in-doors, which I did about ~2 weeks ago. I suspect I’ll have to do that at least one more time this season.

They won’t charge when it’s below -degrees Celsius.

Make sure they are in full contact with sunshine. I live in northern B.C. Anything below freezing there is a charging issue.

Right, it is a very unfortunate situation.

I already shared my thoughts with the company…

You might experience charging issues or incomplete charging. Possible reasons include:

  1. The camera’s mounting location triggers too many events, leading to excessive power consumption. Try lowering the sensitivity or adjusting the detection area.

  2. Check if the solar panel connector is loose, affecting normal charging.

If you’ve tried the above methods and the problem persists, you can find online support on the Aosu app for more professional solutions. Hope this helps. Thank you for your support.

Dear aosu_Captain,

While I understand there are ways to troubleshoot or defend the camera’s performance, there is a significant issue when the product is marketed as a reliable security solution but fails to perform its primary job in practice. If the camera does not include the proper security and functionality advertised, it represents a major problem for the user.
