Android App notifications grouping

One feature I miss from the Ring app is the notification grouping. Instead of having 20 separate notifications you can group them so you get one that you can expand if you want. I did submit this via the app as an idea but never heard back on the submission.

Dear Darren,

Thank you again for your thoughtful feature request, this would be handy even for myself in the future when I get doorbell cameras

Currently, the Aosu app does not natively support grouped notifications (like the expandable alerts in the Ring app). While there’s no official roadmap for this feature yet there are some workarounds I thought of

In the meantime, here are a few helpful workarounds that may reduce notification clutter:

iOS (iPhone): Scheduled Notification Summary

If you’re using iOS 15 or later:

  1. Go to Settings > Notifications > Scheduled Summary
  2. Enable the feature and add the Aosu app
  3. iOS will batch non-urgent notifications and deliver them at designated times

:warning: Note: Real-time motion alerts may still appear immediately, depending on system priority.

Android: Notification Channel Settings

On many Android devices, you can adjust how Aosu notifications appear:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Aosu > Notifications
  2. Look for options such as:
  • “Group notifications”
  • “Notification categories”
  • “Bubbles”

:pushpin: Availability may vary depending on device model and Android version (e.g., Samsung, Pixel).

Minimizing Notification Overload

While full grouping isn’t available, you can reduce excessive alerts using these settings in the Aosu app:

  • Motion Detection Settings:
    • Adjust motion sensitivity and define activity zones
    • Set Notification Frequency to:
      • Low – Limits repeated alerts
      • Smart – Prioritizes more significant motion events
  • Event Type Filters:
    • Turn off unnecessary alerts (e.g., “All Motion” or “Person Detection”) if not needed

Advanced Option: Third-Party Integration

If you’re an advanced user with a smart home setup, you can integrate Aosu (via RTSP stream) with platforms such as:

  • Home Assistant
  • IFTTT
  • SmartThings

These can allow you to reroute or manage notifications using custom rules, dashboards, or even Telegram bots. While this requires a bit of technical setup, it offers powerful flexibility.

Please let me know if you require assistance.

Warm regards,
S.S.

Thanks for the suggestions, any suggestions we collect in the aosu community will be fed back up again. Perhaps the app development department will develop more user-friendly notification alerts.

Can you provide specific information on the advanced settings you mentioned in the reply. I cannot find any option in the Aosu app to turn on any additional integration to the home assistant software.

as far as I can tell AOSU don’t support RTSP urls in their software?

Hi Linggeling, here are some advice to link your camera to Google home assistant. Please let me know if this works.

Kindly follow the steps below on how to connect the camera to Google Home

Step 1 Download and setup the cameras to the Aosu app
Step 2 Download and setup the Google Home and Assistant apps
Step 3 Open the Aosu app, go to the camera’s Settings, tap “OK Google”, then follow the on-screen instructions.NOTE The camera cannot display on the Google Home App, but it will only show the live stream on the Google Nest Hub device.
